As this will be the last newsletter of 2011 may we take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

The next newsletter in January will be sent from our new office in Haverfordwest. The new office will provide a bit more space to ensure that the quality and variety of our services can be maintained and extended. The telephone number and PO Box Number will remain the same as will the website and email addresses.

November was a busy month with a good mix of new and repeated programmes.

A Welsh County Council commissioned a new Leading Change programme for those responsible for delivering Children's Services. The service is making a number of significant changes so two groups of staff underwent the training. The first group was the managers; the second the senior social workers.

Another new programme was designed and delivered for an organisation that is a world leader in advanced materials technology.

The three day programme is a part of a new graduate development programme which introduces the latest intake of graduates to the wide range of opportunities available to them as they embark on their careers.

The forty graduates undertook a number of development exercises as well as receiving information about the different operating divisions of the organisation.

Other assignments in November included the following:

• A Managing Difficult Conversations course was run for managers at a Welsh County Council.
  
   
• The second day of a two day "Management to Leadership" programme was delivered to a team of senior managers in the Adult Care Sector.
• A new cohort of managers started a Management Development Programme at the largest independent training company in Wales. This year the format has been revised with an emphasis on performance management. The company has recently started a new contract providing workforce development training which has support funding from the Welsh Assembly Government.
• A large engineering consultancy ran two, two day courses. The first was on Communication and Negotiation for managers of large scale projects, the second focused on Leadership Skills for managers working on energy and nuclear projects.
• A government agency started a third cohort on its Seven Module Management Programme which is now mandatory for any officer seeking promotion. Other cohorts undertook the Attitudinal and Enhanced Business Communications modules.
• A one to one coaching session was undertaken with a manager at a harbour authority on the Isle of Wight.
• Additional one to one Coaching sessions were held with managers at a Bristol based law firm.

The Development Company UK Limited provides training courses across the UK to organisations in the Public, Private and Not For Profit Sectors.

The principals of the company believe that training should make a difference and where appropriate change behaviour. The ethos is, therefore, to design courses that are engaging, relevant and deliver specific outcomes.

To achieve the desired outcome the company draws upon a library of proven course materials.

The materials are combined to deliver three types of training. These are:

• Core Skills Training which applies to any individual regardless of role and grade within the organisation.
   
• Management Skills Training which applies to those with management responsibility for others or who have to achieve through others.
   
• Subject Specific Skills Training which addresses specialist areas.
