June saw the first delivery of a new programme of work for one of the UK's largest engineering and manufacturing companies.

The programme forms a part of their graduate training scheme and includes the following courses: Perfecting Your Presentation Skills and Influencing & Persuasion.

The presentations skills course covers presentation techniques and allows the graduates to practice their skills. As well as video recording the presentations an interactive voting system is used to allow the audience to rate elements of the presentation.

The voting system provides a "worm" capability similar to that used for the leadership debates during the last election. Using the "worm", in conjunction with video, gives insight into what is working and what is not during a presentation.

Other assignments in June include:

• Online testing as the first stage of a Graduate Assessment Centre that will run in August for a large English County Council.
• Another cohort started a Management Fundamentals programme at the UK's largest charity. A previous cohort undertook a third day to share their experience of implementing what they had learned to date and to receive additional input including coaching practice
• A two day leadership course was delivered to a group of graduates in the second year of their graduate development programme. This course was delivered for an international, engineering consultancy specialising in the aerospace, automotive and energy sectors.
• A one day Personal Effectiveness course was delivered to a new cohort of new and potential managers at one of the largest independent training companies in Wales.
• Two new cohorts started a seven module Management Development Programme this month. The programme, for a UK government agency, uses a blend of classroom training and self directed learning that will lead to an ILM accredited certificate. Twenty cohorts of managers will undertake this programme and receive 360 Feedback as a part of the process.

The Development Company UK Limited provides training courses across the UK to organisations in the Public, Private and Not For Profit Sectors.

The principals of the company believe that training should make a difference and where appropriate change behaviour. The ethos is, therefore, to design courses that are engaging, relevant and deliver specific outcomes.

To achieve the desired outcome the company draws upon a library of proven course materials.

The materials are combined to deliver three types of training. These are:

• Core Skills Training which applies to any individual regardless of role and grade within the organisation.
   
• Management Skills Training which applies to those with management responsibility for others or who have to achieve through others.
   
• Subject Specific Skills Training which addresses specialist areas.
