Strategies for Dealing with Demands and Expectations

The demands and expectations placed on individuals within modern organisations are on the increase. The state of almost constant change and focus on optimising resources means that the need to recognise and manage stress in the workplace is an important factor at all levels.

Coupled with this is the higher awareness and obligation of employers to support their staff in being able to cope effectively with stress. Learning how to harness the positive forces of pressure and minimise the negative impact stress can have on yourself or others is the key to this programme.

Specific Content

The programme will cover the following aspects:

  • What is stress – identify indicators and different forms of Stress (both positive and negative)
  • Causes of stress - analyse causes of Stress and learn to recognise “early warning signals” and contributing factors in yourself and others
  • Emotional Intelligence - differentiate between Stress prone and Stress resilient individuals
  • Stress Management Tools - apply a series of practical skills to manage stress in an appropriate way
  • Stress and Performance - recognise and harness the potential for positive stress (i.e. stimulating challenge and “stretch”) in the work environment
  • Develop a personal and/or team plan for minimising stress and managing pressure in teams and organisations
