Fostering Innovation & Creativity

Improving Teamwork & Productivity

According to Edward de Bono - “Creative thinking is not a talent; it is a skill that can be learnt. It empowers people by adding strength to their natural abilities which improves teamwork and productivity.”

This belief prompted Pembrokeshire County Council to run a workshop that encouraged managers to think differently.

The objectives of the workshop were to equip the managers to:

  • Understand the building blocks to creativity
  • Find out what creative people do which is different
  • Enhance their own and team’s creative thinking and innovation
  • Generate new ways to solve old problems
  • Learn proven techniques to bring fresh thinking into daily working
  • Challenge the brain’s default settings
  • Understand how to make space for innovation in the workplace
  • Develop momentum for new ideas
  • Use systems and processes that will deliver creativity for the business

The workshop was attended by over 30 managers from the authority and some guests from neighbouring authorities.

The workshop was highly interactive with a rich range of exercises to promote creative thinking and innovation.

As more pressure is applied to the public purse, the authorities at the event believe that these skills are essential to meet the current and future challenges of delivering public services in a creative and dynamic way.
